The teaching methods used in this Master’s degree are an innovative response to the current panorama of interconnections and exchanges which are such an intrinsic feature of the world of art and design and their closeness not simply to increasingly similar artistic methodologies but also to the progressive separation between productive process and the creative act. Specifically, design accompanies art as a precious strategic support facilitating communication and relationships with built space. In this context frequent partnerships between design, technology and art take a variety of expressive forms facilitating experimentation with multisensory projects by means of the intermingling of visual art and multisensorial experience in relation to sectors such as industrial, interior and product design whilst finding their most fertile terrain in the context of cultural heritage appreciation (both historic and contemporary). Moving closer to the world of design at the service of cultural heritage requires an approach linked to the culture of the industrial product, a cross disciplinary matrix with multi-disciplinary contents which tends to conceive of broad and highly complex project scenarios whose purpose is to transfer a ‘systemic vision’ of the innovation process passing from product design to process design with potential impact within the ‘merchandise system’ both physical or intangible. From the identification of little analysed focuses of historic and artistic interest to designing to support a lightweight infrastructure for these, to event , communication and merchandising creation, design can thus support development and supply supporting tools for its development in the cultural heritage context on a range of levels.
The objective of this Master’s degree is to develop a wide ranging and cross disciplinary skill system with the principal aim of facilitating understanding of art products and service design innovation in various sectors such as the product and interior design sector with special reference to the artistic and cultural heritage and aspects of communication and planning including by means of the study of new forms of heritage management, promotion and awareness raising.
